Artist and sculptor Ryan Kelley creatively transforms wire, wood, metal and stone into unique pieces of art. Ryan is a young artist driving change in the artistic community around him, and an experienced sculptor with hundreds of creations and commissioned pieces to his name. Kelley’s work can be seen in homes and businesses throughout the country. Over the years his pieces have grown in scale and intricacy, much like his signature trees crafted from hundreds or even thousands of wires.
A self-taught artist, Ryan began creating art during free time in high school. His works quickly changed from small gifts for friends and family to beautiful pieces of art for clients and customers. After receiving a Silver Key from the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards show in 2011, Kelley submitted his first of many wire sculpture pieces into the Newburyport Art Association (NAA). He has received numerous awards for Best Work in Sculpture.
Ryan has been a member of Board of Directors for the NAA since 2013, adding a youthful and innovative perspective to the board. He is a key contributor to the NAA ArtLink Program, visiting local schools to teach and inspire young artists to follow their passions in the arts. Ryan also provides private wire classes in local homes and businesses.
Ryan sources his wire from WesBell Electronics in Merrimack, New Hampshire. In producing his collected works thus far, Ryan has used over 30 miles of wire, with many miles still to come.
